The first true episode of the series, and the first to be written, “New Textbooks” is a story about one of the most satire-worthy subjects of college life: the exorbitant price of textbooks. The gang decides to break into a professor’s office to steal textbooks, so that Walter can share them with Lindsay, an attractive midyear he just met.
Fun fact: The first scene is the only one featuring Nicole (Diana Benlevy), the last cold open ever used in “Slice N Deis,” and the only scene of the episode to be filmed in 2007 (the rest was filmed in the spring of 2008). “New Textbooks” was submitted to the 2008 Sundeis Film Festival without the opening scene, and was nominated for Best Screenplay.
